Andrew Beaudoin's Licensed Guide certification is issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The badge shows he meets the state's standards for guiding fishing expeditions on the lakes, rivers and ponds around Tupper Lake and throughout the Saranac region. This license is one mark of his qualification to lead the half-day and full-day fishing trips he offers year-round.
Beaudoin brings more than just the license to the water. He is a retired U.S. Army paratrooper and combat veteran with a B.S. in fish and wildlife management. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license. His background combines formal training in fisheries science with real-world experience navigating and leading groups on the water.
Trips depart from Lake Flower Avenue and explore the Saranac River, Lake Flower, Oseetah Lake, Upper and Lower Saranac Lake, Kiwassa Lake and other local waters. Andrew pilots Jackson Kayaks equipped with GPS and a fishfinder to locate the hotspots. The kayaks are stable enough to stand and cast from, and they come with an ice box for storing your catch. Groups of up to 12 people fish together on the same trip, making it easy to bring family or friends.
Andrew teaches various techniques including jigging, spinning and light tackle fishing. He works with anglers of all skill levels and welcomes children as young as four. He takes photographs throughout the day so you leave with images of your catches and the moments you shared on the water. His focus is on making sure you improve your fishing skills and build memories.
The Adirondack lakes and rivers hold Northern Pike, Trout, Salmon, Bass, Panfish and Walleye. Half-day kayak fishing trips run four hours and target these species across the Saranac River and Adirondack lakes. Full-day outings extend to eight hours and dive deeper into Saranac Lake for Bass, Walleye and more. Half-day guided fly fishing trips offer a four-hour custom experience on Lake Flower where you can build your own fly rod and pursue Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout and Smallmouth Bass.
All rods, reels, tackle, lures and live bait are provided. Andrew also offers half-day paddle trips for those who want to explore the backcountry at a relaxed pace without focusing on fishing. These trips showcase the scenic waters and calm environments the region is known for.
Before you book, purchase a New York State fishing license. This is a requirement separate from Andrew's guide license and is your responsibility as an angler. You can obtain one through the New York Department of Environmental Conservation website or at local retailers.
Pack sunscreen, snacks and drinks for the day. Dress for the weather and bring layers, as conditions on the water can change. The kayaks are stable and the trip is family-friendly, so if you are bringing children or have questions about what to expect, reach out to Andrew directly. He will make sure you and your group are comfortable and ready to have a great day.
Andrew offers some of the best rates around for guided fishing in the Saranac area. He is known for going above and beyond to make sure every trip is memorable. His combination of formal training, military background, and genuine passion for teaching makes him stand out. Whether you are a seasoned angler looking to refine your technique or a family discovering fishing for the first time, Andrew adjusts the trip to match your goals and skill level.
